Oasis Scholarship is one common website for West Bengal state scholarships. You do not need a separate form for each scheme. You register once. NSP OTR for Oasis Scholarship

OTR means One-Time Registration. It is a number you get on the National Scholarship Portal after you finish e-KYC. The Oasis registration form asks for this number. Once made, the OTR stays valid for your whole study career. You do not have to make a new one every year.

Remember one thing. Making an OTR does not mean your scholarship is done. You still have to apply separately on the Oasis portal.

OTR Rules You Should Know

Read these points before you start.

  • There is no fee for OTR.

  • An active mobile number is needed.

  • Aadhaar is needed. If you do not have Aadhaar, you can use the Enrolment ID.

  • A minor without Aadhaar can register using a parent's or guardian's Aadhaar.

  • Your name, date of birth and gender must match Aadhaar.

  • One student can have only one OTR. A parent can make two OTRs for two minor children.

  • More than one OTR in one student's name can lead to debarment.

How to Generate OTR on NSP

The process has two parts.

Part 1: Reference Number

  1. Open scholarships.gov.in.

  2. Click Register or Get your OTR.

  3. Read the guidelines and accept them.

  4. Enter your mobile number and the captcha.

  5. Verify the OTP sent to your phone.

  6. Enter your Aadhaar number.

  7. Enter the OTP sent on your Aadhaar-linked mobile number.

  8. Tick “I Agree” on the Aadhaar consent form.

  9. Check your profile and the NPCI mapper DBT status on the screen.

  10. Click Finish. Your NSP Reference Number is made.

Part 2: Face Authentication

  1. Install the NSP OTR App from the Play Store.

  2. Install the Aadhaar Face RD Services App from UIDAI.

  3. Open the NSP OTR App and select eKYC by FaceAuth.

  4. Enter your Reference Number and tap Send OTP.

  5. Enter the OTP and the captcha. Tap Next.

  6. Check the details on the screen and confirm.

  7. Tap Proceed for Face Authentication.

  8. Finish the face scan.

  9. Your OTR number comes on the screen. A temporary password comes on your mobile.

  3. Submit it at the right office within 15 days.

Students from a block area submit at the Block Development Office. Students from a municipality or corporation area submit at the PO cum DWO or DWO office, or at the ADWO, BCW or BCWO office. After this, your institution gives its approval.

Students joining courses at places like Presidency University, St. Xavier's College Kolkata and MAKAUT should finish this step early. It keeps the institute-level approval from getting late.

Documents Required for Oasis Scholarship 2026-27

You need two sets of documents. One set for the online form. Another set for the printed copy.

For the online application

  • Aadhaar card

  • Caste certificate, with its number and issuing date

  • Income certificate in JPEG format, maximum 512 KB

  • Bank account linked with Aadhaar

  • Active mobile number

  • OTR number

  • Marksheet details of the last class

To submit with the printed form

  • One recent stamp size colour photo, attested and pasted on the form

  • Attested copy of the caste certificate for Post-Matric students

  • Attested copy of the caste certificate or acknowledgement slip for Pre-Matric students

  • Attested copy of the marksheet or certificate of the last exam passed

  • Copy of the first page of the bank passbook with the account number and bank details

  • Copy of the Aadhaar card as identification proof

  • Income certificate and date of birth proof, like a birth certificate or Madhyamik admit card

  • Copy of the Khadya Sathi card

Oasis Scholarship Selection and Verification Process

Your form goes through three offices before the money comes. Each level has to pass it.

Stage

What happens

1

Student locks the application

2

Verified at institute level

3

Verified at block or municipality level

4

Verified at district level

5

Aadhaar DBT check, then the money is sent

If the Aadhaar DBT check fails, the payment stops there. You have to link your Aadhaar with the bank account. Then check the status again. Institute level is the first check of the three. Students at big institutions like IIM Calcutta and Presidency University should keep in touch with their scholarship cell at this stage.

How to Check Oasis Scholarship Status at oasis.gov.in

The homepage of oasis.gov.in has a Track an Application option. Use it to see how far your form has moved. Keep the Application ID from the acknowledgement slip ready before you check. The status shows you which level has passed your form. If it is stuck at institute level, talk to your institution. If it is stuck at block or district level, follow up at the office where you gave the printed form.

Oasis Scholarship Payment and DBT

Payment comes through Aadhaar-based Direct Benefit Transfer. It uses the NPCI mapper. The money goes to the student's own bank account. It does not go to the institution. This rule is the same for every institution, from a state school to a university like Jadavpur University, University of Calcutta or IIT Kharagpur.

For Pre-Matric and Post-Matric SC scholarships, the money comes in two parts. 40 percent comes in the first phase. The rest 60 percent comes later. Aadhaar seeding matters a lot here. If your bank account is not linked with Aadhaar in the NPCI mapper, the money will fail even after approval. Get it linked at your bank branch. Then check the status again.

Why Oasis Scholarship Applications Get Rejected

Most forms get rejected for small reasons. Check this table before you lock your form.

Problem

Reason and solution

Payment failed

Bank account is not linked with Aadhaar. Get it seeded in the NPCI mapper and check again

Application rejected

Name, spelling, birth year or gender on the portal does not match Aadhaar

Income certificate not uploading

The file must be JPEG and under 512 KB

Form cannot be edited

Form and bank details both freeze after locking. Check the preview before you lock

Scholarship not received

One student can give only one application. Taking another scholarship leads to disqualification

Student thinks OTR is enough

OTR is only the first step. You must apply on the Oasis portal separately

More than one OTR made

This can lead to debarment. One student gets one OTR only

Form not moving ahead

Three offices verify it. Follow up with your institute first

Can You Apply for More Than One Scholarship?

No. The rule is simple. One student can give one application only. If you take money from another scholarship scheme, your Oasis application is cancelled. Pick one scheme and stay with it for the year.

Oasis Scholarship Renewal

The portal homepage has a Renew Scholarship option. It is for students who are going on with the same course. Use this option instead of registering again.

Renewal works on the same OTR. Your OTR stays valid through your study career, so you do not have to make it a second time. Students going into the next year of a degree course at places like NIT Durgapur, IIT Kharagpur and University of Calcutta should use the renewal option, not fresh registration.
