The admission is done through Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) solely on the basis of the marks scored for Class XII. For PG courses, candidates require a graduate degree with not less than 50% marks, and for admission, either TANCET score or merit is considered.

The eligibility criteria for B.E. / B.Tech at Thiruvalluvar College of Engineering and Technology (TCET) are as follows:Educational Qualification:The candidate should have passed the Higher Secondary Examination (12th grade) or an equivalent examination from a recognised board with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as core subjects.The minimum aggregate marks in these subjects should be at least 50% (45% for candidates from the reserved categories).Age Limit:The candidate must have completed 17 years of age as of December 31 of the year of admission.Entrance Exam:Admission is primarily based on the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) process, which uses marks obtained in 12th grade (Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics).Alternatively, candidates who have appeared for the JEE Mains exam may also be considered for admission based on their score.Other Requirements:The candidate should not have any backlogs or other disqualifications in the required subjects.
