The availability of part-time jobs depends on a number of factors which may include course schedules, availability of jobs in Dublin, and the status of work permits. There is a significant number of part-time jobs and work in the cafes, retail, and tutoring, especially in friendly student areas around the campus. The university provides career services, too, assisting students in the placement of part-time work and internships. However, finding a balance between work and study is not very easy, thus time management comes in handy. International students, for instance, may be under certain visa conditions regarding hours of work they are allowed.

Many Indian students seek part-time opportunities in sectors providing flexibility around an academic schedule and opt for more hospitality work involving cafes, restaurants, or a bar in local student-friendly districts. Retail sector jobs in department stores and supermarkets are also significant. Many look to tutoring whereby they offer extra tuition in various subjects such as mathematics, English, and the sciences, areas where they particularly excel. Other areas for internships, especially those connected to the course of study, are IT, marketing, and business, all of which can provide practical experience in their area of study. These fields ensure that students have a balance of work and academics.
