1.96 lakh students opted for AIEEE 2012

In 2012, the country will produce more engineers as nearly 1.96 lakh students opted for All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE). The number of students opted for the computer-based engineering test has spiked from last year's 4,900 to around 1.96 lakh this year. 
It came as a result of the intiative by Central Board of Secondary Education's (CBSE) in which it has encouraged more students to opt for the computer-based test this year. Infact, this year it did not have any centers for paper/pen based test (offline exam) in 22 major cities in the country that includes Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru and Kolkata.
Students who are unsure about the CBT pattern have now opted for exam centers in neighboring smaller cities or satellite towns.
Last year about 11.13 lakh students has applied for the exam, but this year the number of aspirants have increased to around 13 lakhs, which is almost a 16% rise. This year CBSE had made online application mandatory for all online and offline takers.
It is the second time of the online exam, and the total number of students appearing for the online exam has risen from 4% last year to 15% this year. However, some of the students are not confident about the online test. (Read More...)
The paper-pen based test pattern is moving to computer based test. Most of the exams are now held in CBT form, so CBSE is doing to train students for future exams.
