Three PG Programmes By IGNOU In Regular Mode
The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) is offering three post-graduate programmes in the regular mode. The full-time PG programmes include MA in Journalism and Mass Communication, Electronic Media and Management. Two other courses -- B.Ed (Special Education) and a Foundation Course for In-Service Teachers – have also been launched. IGNOU is now following
flexible modes of education delivery -- combining face-to-face, distance and on-line approaches of dissemination.

Ray Of Hope For Engineering Aspirants; 7,000 More Seats This Year
For those engineering aspirants who couldn’t secure admission this year, there is some hope. The government is in talks with the managements of private engineering colleges for the allotment of 7,000 additional seats through the CET ranking in private colleges. These seats will be exclusive of those which have already been filled-up in the Government pool of seats in the private colleges for the current academic year. The government would step in only if the fee structure of the private engineering colleges is the same as prescribed for the Government quota of seats. These seats would be filled up by students who would clear the qualifying examination (pre-university or equivalent) in the supplementary examinations.

Pact Between IIT-Kanpur And Malaysian University
IIT-Kanpur has signed an MoU with the Malaysian government to provide technical and academic assistance to an electronic hub, to be set up in Penang in Malaysia. The electronic hub would be provided technical know-how in the fields of research, consultancy and training by IIT-K.

AIIMS Expels Two Students From Hostel For Ragging
Taking a strict cognition of ragging incident on campus, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has expelled two students from the hostel for two months for ragging their juniors. The incident was reported anonymously and after a surprise check, hostel wardens caught the seniors red-handed. Last week, the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) had rusticated nine students for two years and expelled 10 others from the hostel for a year for ragging their juniors.
