A letter of the Skill Development and Technical Education Department, Government of Odisha, regarding the reopening and commencement of physical classes in all technical universities, engineering and professional colleges from July 26 has gone viral on the social media.

A letter of the Skill Development and Technical Education Department, Government of Odisha, regarding the reopening and commencement of physical classes in all technical universities, engineering and professional colleges from July 26 has gone viral on the social media. 

The Odisha government has not yet made any official announcement in this regard. The letter, dated July 22, is addressed to the Vice-Chancellors of all state government and private technical universities, Director of Indira Gandhi Institute Of Technology (IGIT), Sarang and Principals of all government and private engineering colleges. 

The letter read, “The government is pleased to announce that all technical universities and colleges, engineering and professional colleges under state and private administration are allowed to open from July 26 following the COVID-19 protocols and SOPs. Hostels are allowed to open from July 23.”

Students belonging to the Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) Students’ Association had recently called on the Skill Development and Technical Education Minister of Odisha, Premananda Nayak, urging the latter to reopen technical institutions in the state. 

Schools and colleges in the states were reopened now. So the technical educational institutions should now be reopened, the students had demanded. 

After meeting the students, the the Skill Development and Technical Education Minister of Odisha had said a decision in this regard would be taken soon after meeting with the authorities concerned.
