Google India PhD Fellowship Program
Google India PhD Fellowship Program aims to support and recognise outstanding students pursuing PhD level studies in Computer Science and related areas.
The year 2013 saw five students from India receive the Google India PhD Fellowship Program which included:
- Abir De, Google India Fellowship in Social Computing (IIT, Kharagpur)
- Debarghya Ghoshdastidar, Google India Fellowship in Statistical Learning Theory (Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore)
- Shahbaz Khan, Google India Fellowship in Algorithms (IIT,Kanpur)
- Harikrishna Narasimhan, Google India Fellowship in Machine Learning (Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore)
- Rajvi Shah, Google India Fellowship in Computer Vision (International Institute of Information Technology Hyderabad)
These students are among the 39 students who received Google PhD Fellowship Program from around the world.
So if you want to be the next awardee, here are the Fellowship details:
| Duration and grants |
Fellowship recipients get support for a maximum of four years with a monthly fellowship, a contingency grant for expenses like books, stationery etc and a travel grant for attending conferences |
| Mentor |
Every recipient will be assigned a Google Sponsor who will provide mentorship for the research period. Engagement with the Google Sponsor will include discussions on research direction and progress updates |
| Internship |
Depending on mutual interest between the fellowship recipient and Google Sponsor, the former can do an internship at Google after successfully clearing the internship interview process. However, awarding of the fellowship does not guarantee a Google internship. |
| Limitation to apply |
There is no limit to the number of students who may apply from each university. |
| Application submission |
Each applicant will need to fill in the online form and email supporting documents to phdfellowship-in@google.com. |
