Joint Entrance Screening Test on Feb 17
Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST) is a gateway for admission to Ph.D / Integrated Ph.D Programme in Physics or Theoretical Computer Science courses. The exam is scheduled to be held on February 17, 2013. You can appear for the JEST exam in Physics or Theoretical Computer Science, but not for both. JEST results will be declared in March and interviews will begin from the last week of April.

Students who wish to take admission in any of the above mentioned institutes must visit the respective website of the institute to get programme details and subject areas being offered. Also, all the participating institutes would not have the same eligibility criteria. Question paper is designed from the general syllabus of graduation and post-graduation level courses offered by various Indian universities and institutions. Such sample paper questions are derived from previous yearβs examination.
Admission procedure:
Application forms for JEST will be available from November to December 2012. One can apply online or by ordinary post.
For ordinary post, one should write to JEST 2013, Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics. For online application, create an account using a valid e-mail ID and this account will be valid after the date of declaration of results for that year. Such email ids will be used for all future communication.Β To fill online application, first login to the created account and complete the application form and after submitting the application, a unique submission number will be created which will be the source of communication for applicants.
While submitting the application online, one must pay an application fee of Rs 100 (Rs 50 for SC/ST applicants) into the given Bank account. Fee can be paid before or after the online submission and the payment receipt/counterfoil/challan that contains applicantβs details must be returned to the JEST authorities, before the date to be announced.
