After Pune, Nagpur seems to be the next destination for the IT major, Infosys. The focus is to churn out 14,000 jobs for the budding software engineers with a total investment of Rs 415 crore. It is said that within a span of five years, it will be able to provide jobs to 2,000 software engineers. Spread across the nations with 64 offices and 68 development centers it provides employment opportunities to about 1,45,000 people.

Being the second venture in Maharashtra it will start off with an initial investment of Rs 100 crore. It also signed a memorandum of understanding with Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC), in the presence of Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan. The company has been allocated 142 acres of land at Mihan. According to the MOU the company will become operational in three years which means greater opportunities for the software professionals.

UPS Madan, VC cum MD of MADC said that though the number of companies are growing, Infosys couldn't have been ignored. With this new facility in Kanpur, the rising number of jobs will prove to be another excellent year for those in IT sector.

In another development, the IT bellwether also signed an agreement with Bharti Airtel. Infosys will invest about $50 million to develop and create Intellectural Property in the mobile commerce platform, reported the Mydigitallife.com. Read More...
