AILET 2016 is known to have 150 objective-type multiple choice questions which aspirants need to attempt in 90 minutes duration. AILET exam pattern is such that the test paper is divided into five sections consisting of questions from subjects like â English, General Knowledge & Current Affairs, Maths, Logical Reasoning as well as Legal Aptitude.
The questions asked in AILET exam are often of higher difficulty level than the ones asked in other popular law entrance exams, such as, CLAT and LSAT.
On the basis of an aspirantâs rank in AILET 2016, he/she can secure admission in BA LLB (Hons) and LLM courses offered at National Law University (NLU), New Delhi.Â

AILET 2016 was a mixed bag of emotions for students. While some found the exam to be easy as compared to previous yearsâ papers, others felt that the exam was extremely difficult. But one finding was common. Attempting 150 questions in 90 minutes duration was a difficult task and so AILET 2016 was a race against time for almost every candidate.
AILET 2016: HOW WAS THE EXAM?
For Gurpreet Singh of S.S.Mota Singh School, AILET exam was average. He said, âThe paper was easy. On a scale of 1-10, with one being the easiest and 10 the most difficult, I would rate the exam at 5â.
A very confident student of Basava International School, Girishma shared, âAILET was OK, if I could get 15 minutes more I would have attempted all the questions. But rest was good. The level of difficulty was also OK. The exam pattern was similar to previous yearsâ papersâ. Along same lines, Harshit Gupta of Ramjas Anand Parvat said the exam was satisfactory. âThe most difficult section was Maths. The questions asked in this section were more difficult than the ones asked in previous years. The easiest section was English. Legal reasoning was also satisfactoryâ.
A student of KV Shamilar Bagh, Nishant felt that the, âExam was quite tough. Reasoning was easy and I would say the main competition was time. Doing 150 questions in 90 minutes was the biggest task. So, the exam was tough for me. The easiest part of the exam was Logical Reasoningâ. Supporting Nishantâs claim, Divya of St. Xavierâs School also felt that the exam was difficult. She further shared that, âThe exam pattern was different from previous years, totally differentâ.
Harsh of Rameesh International School wasnât too happy with AILET 2016 exam paper. He shared that the âExam was totally out of syllabus. The questions we solved in practice tests, there was no similarity between them and the ones asked in AILET exam. The questions were tricky and you couldnât arrive at the answer directly. It wasnât a âone clickâ question paper. You had to think twice before selecting the answerâ.
While for Dikshant, a Bal Bharti School student, the exam was Ok and he did not find the questions asked, to be very difficult.
I.K. Singhania Schoolâs student, Dikshita Nagra, very candidly shared that, âThe exam was good but it was more of a speed test. We had to solve 150 questions in 90 minutes. GK questions were easy and the Legal Aptitude section was fine and Reasoning was lengthyâ.
Gauri Rastogi, a student of Translem School who had come all the way from Meerut to give AILET exam shared that her exam went well. âI couldnât solve all the questions due to time constraint. I completed the GK and Legal sections. The questions asked in the Legal section were quite simple. But solving Maths questions took time. I couldnât solve all the questions in the exam but I simply marked options of all the questions as per instinctâ, she shared.
AILET 2016: SECTION-WISE DIFFICULTY LEVEL
Most of the students found the Legal Aptitude section to have lengthy questions and the English section to be quite simple.
âThe paper was quite tough. Legal was damn tough. English and GK, I could attempt. Maths and reasoning was averageâ, said Divya.
Gurpreet shared that âLegal Aptitude was very difficult. English was easy. Mathematics was easy and the exam pattern was similar to previous yearsâ.
Over all, Girishaâs AILET exam went well. She elaborated on how her exam went section-wise by saying, âThe first section was English, that was pretty easy, I finished it in 10-15 minutes. After that was General Knowledge, GK was also good, it was a bit tricky but it was OK. Next, was Legal Aptitude, in it I had to go through the questions slowly, as the reading part was a bit lengthy but the difficulty level was OK, I could attempt the questions. And then there was logical reasoning, that also I attempted well, the level of difficulty was OK. And then there was Mathematics, I couldnât attempt that part. If I had more time I would have attempted itâ.
Harsh shared that, âThe difficulty level of all the sections was the same. The only thing that was different was that the type of Legal questions we did in our coaching centre, the questions asked in the exam were very different from those questionsâ.
Dikshant who managed to solve 120 questions in AILET 2016 felt that the Legal Aptitude and GK sections were difficult.
âGK questions were easy and the Legal Aptitude section was fine. Reasoning section was lengthyâ, said Dikshita Nagra. She further revealed that, âI was able to attempt all the questions and the best part was that there was no negative markingâ.
Gauri Rastogi shared that âEnglish wasnât difficult. General Knowledge section was also not difficult. Legal was easy, Logical reason section was also quite easy. I am weak in Maths, so I donât know if the questions asked were difficult or if I only couldnât solve themâ.

While majority of the students felt that the AILET 2016 exam pattern was similar to that of previous yearsâ papers. But, some students shared that they felt that the exam pattern was different and AILET 2016 had more tricky questions as compared to last year.
