KSLU to launch entertainment law programEver thought of pursuing a course in entertainment law? If you are a law graduate then prepare to fulfill your aspirations soon and get working with film production houses or practise independently. Karnataka State Law University (KSLU) is planning to launch a certificate course in entertainment law. It will be a six-month program to be offered in collaboration with Brain League, an intellectual property services company in Bangalore.

This program is designed to impart proficiency in intellectual property and copyright laws, and in drafting patents for movies and tele-serials. Harvard Law School is the only school that offers a course in entertainment law, Karnataka State Law University's evaluation registrar K S Bagale told TOI.

The Cinematography Act alone is found to be insufficient to deal with the legal issues related to entertainment. The new course expected to start from October or November would deal with various aspects of the Copyright (Amendment) Act. This program would enhance skills in legal matters related to the entertainment and media sectors.

Addressing the shortage of experts in the field, this course is expected to bring relief to film producers helping them deal with plagiarism and copyright issues effectively. Read more
