<p style="text-align: justify;">After the Common Admission Test (CAT) for admission to top business schools in the country, some Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) have conducted their post-graduation entrance examination - Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) - for two papers <img style="border: 3px solid black; margin: 3px 4px; float: right;" src="https://images.shiksha.com/mediadata/images/1265775365php0eXfS7.jpeg" alt="" width="150" height="110">online.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><br />"Indian Institutes of Technology at Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras, Roorkee and the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore successfully conducted online GATE 2010 for two out of 21 papers," a human resource development ministry official said Tuesday.<br /><br /><br />The examinations of two subjects -- Textile Engineering and Fiber Science, and Mining Engineering (MN) -- were conducted using computers by these institutes. About 1,700 candidates were registered for these examinations which were conducted simultaneously in eight cities over two shifts Monday.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><br />The online examination was conducted in GATE 2010 this year for the first time and depending upon the experience, it might be repeated on a larger scale in subsequent years, the official added.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><br />The written version of the exam in other 19 papers shall be conducted all over the country Feb 14.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><br />The Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) conducted computer-based CAT for the first time in the last week of November and first week of December. "Indian Institutes of Technology at Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras, Roorkee and the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore successfully conducted online GATE 2010 for two out of 21 papers," a human resource development ministry official said Tuesday.
