CFA Institute Research Challenge is a global-level competition for university students in equity research, corporate analysis, and presentation skills. In India, it is being organised by the Indian Association of Investment Professionals (IAIP). This year, about 220 students from leading business schools and universities across India are participating in the challenge.

These include all the 13 IIMs, XLRI Jamshedpur, and ISB Hyderabad.

Local winners will advance to regional finals at the Asia Pacific level, from where the winners of the round will advance to global finals.

This annual competition promotes hands-on mentoring of students by investment professionals and allows the companies to tap into local talent while gaining unbiased research reports and opinions from student teams.

Last year, 32 B-schools from India had participated in the competition. Worldwide, more than 3,000 students from over 650 universities in 55 countries and territories took part in the competition. The global champion was a team from Thammasat University, Thailand, which was invited to ring the closing bell at NASDAQ.
