Chiradip: I face problems in applying rules in the quantitative ability (QA) section? How should I prepare for this section?

To apply rules, one should be thorough with the concepts. The ability to apply rules comes with practice, taking mock tests and then analysing them to try and find better ways of answering questions.

Archita: I am quite bad at QA. Please guide me.

Focus on improving areas that will give you the maximum returns with respect to your CAT scores. Take simulated tests to identify your areas of weakness, especially those topics which have a higher weightage in the test and work on them in a systematic manner. I am sure that if you follow this approach, you will see a continuous improvement in your scores.

Abhishek: In QA, what is the most common topic?

Conventionally, CAT has been a test of logic more than anything else. So logical and reasoning based topics like number system, arithmetic, algebra and geometry are the topics from which the majority of the questions are in QA.

Sayan: How do I better my accuracy and speed in reading comprehension (RC) and in data interpretation questions?

First, concentrate on improving your accuracy in these areas. In other words, take time to read and comprehend the passage. Do not worry about speed and then try to answer the questions. If you are able to maintain a high level of accuracy while doing this, regular practice will improve your speed in RC.
