Beware of interview goof-ups!
Every one of us has been in sticky situations at various points in our lives. But what if you find yourself in the worst possible situation right when you are sitting before a panel trying to get that perfect job during campus placement interview? Well, if you have luck (or the lack of it) similar to the people we are talking about here, you shouldn’t fret over it because sooner or later the inevitable will happen with you. There is no stopping it (*sic).
Jokes apart, the placement season is just round the corner and each one of you must be preparing on how to and how definitely not to present yourself before the interview panel. You must have gone through some expert write-ups on the right body language to have during interviews, handling tricky questions and correct etiquettes to have. Now, to lighten up your mood and give you insights at the same time, on what to avoid during interviews, Shiksha brings you some interview goof-ups to avoid.
Interview Tips: Where to say a definite ‘NO’
I am late and I am not carrying my CV
Doing something like this is similar to throwing a barbeque party and then forgetting to actually rent or buy the barbeque equipment in the first place. Okay! That’s a bad example but either ways you are not going to get what you came searching for – no food and definitely no job!
I don’t intend to work very hard
Well most new joinees do not intend to slog out at work but try and keep that banter on in front of your friends and not your interviewer. Primarily for one reason alone, and that is, unlike your friends the company intends to pay you.
I have a question regarding when you guys actually take your holidays and annual leaves
Stating this in the “Do you have any questions for us?” segment of your interview is sure to give you a break forever. Just try and think of every instance when you went out to hire a driver or a maid and they asked you precisely the same question. Then re-enact the reaction you gave them in your head. Well, that is exactly how your interviewer will be feeling. Lol!
So I got the job
Such a statement is surely going to make you look like an over-confident little maniac. Our word of advice here is: Say that in your head, don’t voice it out loud!
We suggest if your interview is going anywhere close to this interview then you'd better politely excuse yourself and walk right out the door and give your interview the much needed closure!
So, keep these instances in mind and just remember how much you laughed on seeing them. We are sure you wouldn’t want to be the laughing stock of what could be your prospective company. So, work towards making your interview goof-up proof and till then we want to wish you all the best!
