IIMS ANNOUNCE CAT 2010
The Indian Institutes of Management have formally made the announcement of CAT (Common Admission Test) to be conducted for admissions at nine premier B-schools (including the new ones at Ranchi and Rohtak) for the next academic session, 2010-11.
The CAT vouchers will be available between August 30 and September 27 at the select branches of Axis bank for R1400 (R700 for SC/ST candidates). Visit www.catiim.in for the exact locations of Axis bank branches where voucher sale is arranged. After purchasing the CAT voucher, students are mandated to register on to the website www.catiim.in and also view the CAT 2010 video to get familiar with this year's exam.
In order to avoid last year's fiasco, the testing window has been extended to 20 days between October 27 and November 24. Tests would be conducted at venues across many centres in Ahmendabad, Bangalore, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Cochin, Coimbatore, Delhi, Durgapur, Faridabad, Ghaziabad, Greater Noida, Gurgaon, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Indore, Jaipur, Jamshedpur, Kolkata, Kozhikode, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, Navi Mumbai, Noida, Patna, Pune, Ranchi, Shillong, Siliguri, Varanasi and Visakhapatnam. The result of CAT will be displayed on the website (www.catiim.in) from January 12, 2011.
SMU, DDE LAUNCHES BCOM AND BSC PROGRAMMES
Sikkim Manipal University-Distance Education (SMU-DE), one of the largest providers of Distance Education in India, has announced the launch of pro-degrees programme. There are four courses offered in the skill based BCom and BSc programmes. The BCom degree offers specialisation in financial planning, supply chain management and export import management and the BSc programme offers specialisation in network technology. The last date for application to the programmes is November 2, 2010.
NGO AWARDS VMMC GIRL
Touch A Life, an NGO awarded a scholarship to Nisha (who only writes her first name), a third year student of Bachelor of Prosthetic and Orthotics (BPO) at Vardhman Mahavir Medical College and Safdarjang Hospital, New Delhi. The cheque worth R14,000 was handed over to the girl.
