CAT 2016: Last day to register is today!
Candidates willing to appear for CAT 2016 must fill in their application forms latest by 5pm today, i.e. September 27, 2016. Entries received after this deadline will not be entertained by the officials.
CAT 2016 registration began on August 8, 2016, and was scheduled to end on September 22, 2016. However, In view of unprecedented number of applications received, the deadline for application submission of CAT 2016 forms was extended by 5 days.
In a press release issued, the office of the Convenor CAT 2016 announced an extension of the deadline for submission of application forms by 5 days. The new deadline is 5:00 p.m. on September 27, 2016.
“The primary reason for the extension was to facilitate the applicants who are still in the process of completing their applications. There are many applicants in this stage, and we have been getting a lot of requests from them,” said Professor Rajendra K Bandi, Convenor, CAT 2016.
“The total number of submitted applications (as at 3:30 p.m.) on September 22, 2016 was 2.08 lakhs, which is far in excess of the applications for the comparable period last year. This number is expected to go up further. The corresponding number last year was 1.83 lakhs,” Prof. Bandi added.
Earlier, IIM Bangalore had announced that the aspirants will be able to partly edit their already submitted forms.
Candidates will have an option to correct details like Percentage of Marks scored, Work Experience, and Programmes Selected. No other details can be edited.
This option will be available on the CAT application form webpage from October 1-5, 2016.
The exam which is scheduled to be held on December 4, 2016 is open to everyone who’s graduated with minimum of 50% in any subject from a recognized university.
The all India level test is being conducted by IIM Bangalore.
Here’s how to apply:
- Log on to the official website and create and account.
- Access the application form with the help of system generated ID and password.
- The ID and passowrd will be sent to the mobile phone number entered while registering, so make sure the number you furnish is your personal number.
- Access the application form and furnish all the details correctly.
- You need not complete the application in a single session. You can login multiple times to complete. However, you cannot edit any details on the application form after you have made the online payment.
- After you submit the application, there will be a limited time window during which you can modify very limited details like Percentage of Marks scored, Work Experience, Programmes Selected etc.
- You will not be able to modify any of the following: any details entered in the Personal Details section, any details entered in the Academics section except the percentage marks scored, Exam Centre City Preferences.
- The form will have a section in which the candidate is supposed to enter three exam centres in order of preference. Allotment of the test centre will be done as per availability.
- Upload a recent passport size photo with white background. The photo shouldn't be more than 6 months old.
Application fee Rs 1700 can be paid online through debit/credit cards or net banking. Rs 850 for SC/ST/PWD (DA) categories.
The exam is conducted every year by the IIM for admissions to its 20 institutes. CAT scores are valid for admissions to almost all the top management colleges.
The candidates are analysed on the basis of their knowledge of Quantitative Aptitude, Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning and Verbal and Reading Comprehension in a 180-minute exam held in 2 sessions. The question paper consists of 100 multiple option questions.
Following the entrance test, selected candidates will have to go through Essay Writing/Group Discussion/Personal Interview rounds to secure admission in IIMs.
