Executive MBA: Course for Accelerating Career Growth

MBA is a popular course among Indian students after completing their formal college education. However, candidates with a work experience of five to ten years are mostly preferred by most of the renowned B-schools abroad. In an attempt to go with the global education trends, best B-schools in India have also stepped forward to launch executive MBA programmes, specially designed to cater to the advanced educational needs of senior working professionals & executives.

In this spree, the Indian School of Business, Hyderabad (www.isb.edu) has recently introduced an Executive MBA programme called PG in Management for Senior Executives (PGPMAX), taking into consideration the busy schedule of working professionals which does not leave these professionals to opt for a full-time MBA programme.

This new course, with duration of 15 months, has a carefully designed schedule, which does not intervene with regular work schedule of busy working professionals. The students of this course are expected to be on campus once in every sixth week for six consecutive days & attend classroom learning session. The course entails an international module and costs around Rs. 25 lakhs.

As a part of course curriculum, the students will be required to fly to the Kellogg School of Management and the Wharton School & attend the classes there. Also, the students would need to visit some of the top foreign firms & associate with industry veterans.

In 2009, IIM-Lucknow (www.iiml.ac.in) also introduced started Technology enabled Executive Development Programmes, which is a conglomerate of E-enabled modules & classroom learning. The senior executives are eligible to apply for this course with a fee of Rs. 2 lakhs. However, the applications must have at least a graduate degree with 50% marks and a work experience of six years. The selection is purely based on the performance of the aspirants in the aptitude test.

IIM-Lucknow in an attempt to cater to the needs of aspirants interested in HR has also started a Technology enabled programme with a course fee of Rs. 85,000. The eligibility criteria for this course are--graduate degree and a minimum of three years of work experience after graduation.
