Free online business courses from top faculty!
It’s good news for students wanting to pursue online business courses from top universities. Professors from Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) have launched new business courses for Indian MBA students and executives. The courses will be delivered through the Academic Financial Trading Platform (AFTP). It is the first Massively Open Online Course (MOOC) platform launched by CMU Professors Raj Chakrabarti (Systems Engineering) and Anisha Ghosh (Financial Economics).
MOOC offers university-level courses from the world’s top schools online for free to anyone, anywhere, through video lectures and weekly assessments that allow students to learn at their own pace. AFTP has faculty from several top international business schools including Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), the London School of Economics (LSE), and the University of Chicago's Booth School of Business.
The difficulty level of the courses is said to be comparable to those taught by the same professors on campus. Students after successful completion of the same will acquire formal certification of mastery in mainstream business subjects like investment analysis, macroeconomics and corporate finance.
Offering more than conventional B-school curriculum, AFTP training aims to prepare students for application of acquired skills to real-world decisions. Students get access to the latest and most cutting-edge stock market prediction techniques, trading strategies, and valuation methods developed at the world's top research centres. The exposure facilitates students to learn the application of these techniques, be it for managing their own personal finances or in the professional context.
AFTP’s first online courses in Investment analysis was launched in November 2012. The second course on Macroeconomics to be launched in January 2013 will be taught by Professor Christian Julliard of LSE. Interested Indian candidates can enroll for the limited number of remaining spots.
