Students from 15 different countries will participate in the programme.

S P Jain Center of Management is all set to introduce a global BBA programme. The programme begins on September 6, 2010 at the Singapore campus of the institute. The last date to apply for the programme is July 23. “It’s the world’s first two-city BBA programme. Students will spend the first two years in the Singapore campus and the last two years in the institute’s Sydney campus that would be ready by 2012, the time students will fly to Sydney,” says Nitish Jain, President of the institute.

Students from 15 different countries will participate in the programme. However the number of Indian students is likely to be more than those from any other country only because the institute is of Indian origin. The students will not only have a peer group comprising of persons of different nationalities but will also get an experience, both in terms of academics and exposure, that no students from an institute with a single campus, both within and without India, can expect to get, points out Jain.

“Education is no longer just academics and knowledge gathering, because we are living in a different era,” says Jain. “There is a paradigm shift and education today has become all about competence building and not just knowledge building.” As a result a part of the course will be outside classroom comprising of projects, research etc. It would be complete education, he says.

Dawn Dekle, dean of the BBA programme, seconds Jain’s views. “Knowledge has to be constantly updated. We will empower our students with skill set that will help them acquire /find that knowledge. Only academics wouldn’t work anymore,” she points out.

The money that a student needs to spend is USD 18,850 per year, and this includes tuition fees (USD 5000 per semester), medical insurance, visa charges and campus accommodation.

It is mandatory for a student to study 34 subjects of three credits each and do an action-learning project of four credits to qualify for the global BBA degree. The students would, after the completion of the course, get an Australian degree from the institute. Log on to www.spjain.org/bba for more detail.
