Highest paying MBA specialisation in 2013: HR offers lucrative packages

Which are the top companies hiring? Which specialisation has the most lucrative returns? What is the average salary earned after placements? In the Indian subcontinent, an MBA college is often judged by the success of its alumni.

As a result, MBA aspirants often resort to college rankings and placement reports to solve their queries. But that is not enough.

To make the decision easier for you, Shiksha.com analysed some exclusive data from Naukri.com to find out the top paying specialisations for 2013-14. Naukri.com, India’s leading job portal, has a database of almost 30 million registered job seekers.

We went through the latest resumes and resumes that have been updated in the past one year (2013). The average work-experience in this study is two to five years.

According to the research, MBA or PGDM in the following subjects are the highest paying specialisations in the current economy (The list is not rank-based).

  1. MBA in Finance
  2. MBA in Marketing
  3. MBA in Human Resources
  4. MBA in Operations
  5. MBA in Advertising and Mass Communication

In this article, we’ll explore the details of MBA in Human Resources (HR).

The study puts forward three primary details:

  • Top colleges for pursuing MBA in HR
  • Average CTC (cost-to-company) received by the alumni in each college
  • Top recruiters hiring MBA in HR graduates

According to our research, Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) is the top institute to pursue MBA in HR. The next best institutes are Xavier Labour Relations Institute (XLRI) and Management Development Institute (MDI). The highest average package earned after two to five years of work-experience is Rs 15.4 lakhs per annum.

It is interesting to note that though MBA in HR fetches high salary packages but the number of recruitments are quite less when compared to Finance and Marketing specialisations.
