IIM Admissions: Actual GD topics and case studies of 2014
Round two for admissions for 2014-16 academic session have commenced in various top business schools across the country. While some schools are still continuing with Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI), others are conducting Written Ability Test (WAT) along with Psychometric test.
To know what all is happening we spoke to some candidates who appeared for PI rounds at IIM Ahmedabad and Kozhikode and also visited forums. According to one who appeared for IIM-A interview, “The panellists kept on negating every statement. I had heard about IIM-A stressful interviews, but this was quite something!”
Take a look at the following topics:
IIM Ahmedabad Case Studies
This year all the candidates we spoke to so far have received caselets, followed by a personal question. The case study topics are:
- Trade-off between environment and development
- A company fired an employee. As a result, the other employees went on strike. More details were provided on the case – such as number of employees, information on sales and exports, statement of the employees on strike & the union leader, and a notice published by the company. The question was ‘Why do you think the company fired the employees?’
- Why restaurants are not ready to accept the Food Security Act?
- Government should regulate research and development
- Cash transfers will reduce the problem of leakage in subsidy
The personal questions were ‘Tell us about a song that had the most impact on you’ and ‘Tell us about a friend’.
IIM Kozhikode GD topics
- Cyber law bill has failed. Cyberspace patrolling is just not possible.
- Ecological concern, not a luxury for a country like India
- BCCI should be dissolved by the government
