IIM-Bangalore selects new director from Boston University
The Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) and MHRD (Ministry of Human Resource Department) are betting big on global academicians and educationalists. After IIM Ahmadabad appointed Harvards’ Ashish Nanda as the director, IIM-Bangalore has roped in Boston University’s Sushil Vachani as their new chief.
Vachani is currently the professor of strategy and innovation at Boston University’s School of Management. He has a BTech degree in Mechanical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology - Kanpur, PGDM from IIM Ahmedabad and DBA in International Business from Harvard Business School.
Vachani has authored four books and published several articles. "He has many very good publications to his credit. He is well-travelled and well respected, not just in India, but globally," informed a senior academician at IIM-B to Business Standard.
Recently, the MHRD approved the appointment of IIM directors and chairman from their own alumni. IIM-A’s Nanda became the first overseas academician to take over the chief mantle of any of the 13 IIMs.
