If you wish to join public sector undertaking (PSU) or NGO, and worried about the funds; then it's time for no worries. IIM Calcutta has decided to refund the fees of its students who join its two year flagship post-graduate program. IIM-C has taken this decision as PSUs and NGOs cannot afford to pay salaries offered by private firms.

Director of IIM-C, Shekhar Chaudhuri said that in order to alter this situation we have planned to refund the total fees of the students who join a PSU or an NGO after the completion of their course at IIM Calcutta. IIMs charge huge tuition fees and at present the fees for its two year flagship program is Rs. 13.5 lakhs.

Most of the students take education loans to pay this huge fee. Students are often unenthusiastic to work for PSUs as they may not be able to re-pay their fees. After this move, the institute expects that it will attract more students from IIM Calcutta to work for PSUs and NGOs. In 2009, the year of recession, PSUs had pitched tent at IIM-C, recruiting 34 students. But there was no hiring in 2010 or 2011.
