Smart tips for IIM PGPM WAT Admission Test 2012

IIM Indore gives 15% weightage to the performance of a student in WAT and 35% weightage to his or her performance in the interview (PI).

To crack PI, read Preparation for MBA interviews, How to conduct oneself in personal interview, and Tips on body language during PI.

  • The duration of a WAT round may vary for different IIMs. It may range from 10 minutes to 30 minutes in general. The challenge for an aspirant is to spin out a logical essay which is focussed, well-structured and has clarity of ideas in a short span of time.
  • The arguments in your essay offer good insight into your mind and reflect your personality traits. In fact, many-a-times, WAT is the basis of most of the questions that you are asked during your interview rounds.
  • Avoid clichés and generic statements. Remember, your essay will have to compete with thousands of essays on the same topic. You have to develop your ideas with interesting facts and examples to compel your examiner to read it. Also, don’t beat around the bush. Be precise and concise in stating facts and ideas.
  • A lot of reading and daily practice is the only way to make it through WAT. Usually, there is no word-limit specified in WAT but do use first few minutes to thing what to write and how to structure it and then the last few minutes to check your essay.

 Best of Luck!
