IIM-Rohtak attracts dentists, scuba divers et al
The Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Rohtak welcomed its third batch of students coming from diverse backgrounds like dentistry, fashion technology, hotel management, commerce and business administration. Two students in this batch are founders of IT and telecom companies.
The batch comprises violin enthusiasts, NCC cadets, scuba divers and also students with a taste of working with organizations like UNICEF and Care foundations, Cement and Steel companies.
The batch has 12 female students improving the male-female ratio as compared to the institute's previous batches. The fresh batch comes with an average work experience of more than 30 months.
Being the only IIM of the NCR region, puts the institute in an advantageous position in terms of growth. The induction program began on June 29, 2012 with bigwigs from other IIMs and some of the distinguished industry leaders including D Shiv Kumar, senior vice president - Nokia, Prof Shekhar Chaudhuri, director - IIM Calcutta, Prof AK Jain from IIM Ahmedabad , Ranabir Chakravarthy , head HR, Tata Power and Aruna Krishnan, corporate human resources development, Wipro Ltd, among others.
The three-day induction program began with the inaugural address followed by the orientation program on the next day. Prof Jain from IIM-A talked about the teaching pedagogy of IIMs, while Krishnan from Wipro threw light on what appeals to recruiters when selecting students during placements.
The induction program helped students in understanding the value system across IIMs and how their performance matters to the institute in upholding its elite brand value. Read more
