IIMA, IIMB boast top GMAT scorers worldwide

Finally, itโ€™s a moment of pride for India. According to a survey conducted by QS Global, students of Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIMA) and IIM Bangalore have the highest GMAT scores in the world. While the average GMAT score of the students of IIM Bangalore was 780, students of IIM Ahmedabad got an average score of 767. It testifies that Indian MBA candidates are amongst the finest academic achievers across the globe.

Conducted between March 2012 and July 2012, the survey is based on responses by more than 25,000 employers across the globe.

According to the report, three management institutes that garner maximum recognition by employers are:

  • INSEAD, France (average GMAT score of 704)
  • Harvard Business School, USA (average GMAT score of 724)
  • London Business School, UK (average GMAT score of 697)

The report puts the quality of student intake at IIM Ahmedabad and IIM Bangalore in a supreme position as compared to other business schools worldwide.

The QS report also points out few interesting MBA education trends:

  • In Europe and North America, students generally do MBA at mid-career level to upgrade their skill sets and move to higher positions. In India, academically bright students quickly opt for MBA just after two years of professional experience on an average.
  • In the past decade, many accredited business schools have opened up their campuses in the emerging markets of the BRIC countries, which include Brazil, Russia, India and China.
  • More than 50% MBA students choose business schools in the country where they want to find jobs or settle down.
