Industry leaders at IIM-B placements
Even after doing an MBA getting a job used to be a challenge. But IIM grads seem to be have their hands full. This time for IIM-Bangalore, the sun seems to shine brighter than ever on the students as 400 jobs are offered to 370 students. Global technology, consulting and finance firms were the top notch recruiters from this eminent institute.
The placement session conducted recently has been a success both in terms of money and employers. The average salary package for IIM-A was between Rs 22 lakh to Rs 27 lakh. Accenture, Airtel, A.T. Kearney, Boston Consulting Group (BCG), Deloitte, Flipkart, IBM Consulting, ICICI, Lodha group, McKinsey and Supermax were among the leading participants at IIM-Bangalore. Out of the total 423 jobs there were 41 international job offers for the batch of 371 students amongst which 8 opted out of the placement due to their entrepreneurial dreams. IBM selected 17 students, Supermax 16 while Airtel, BCG, Deloitte and ICICI hired 12 each. A.T. Kearney picked up 9 candidates, McKinsey 8, Lodha group 7 and Flipkart grabbed 6 candidates. Siemens Management Consulting recruited exclusively from this institute. Along with it 124 lateral offers were also made for students more than 22 months of work experience and 93 pre-placement offers which is one of the largest in the institute. Renowned concerns like Morgan Stanley (Hong Kong), J.P. Morgan Chase, Barclays Capital, Deutsche Bank (London), Nomura, Goldman Sachs, RBS, UBS, Standard Chartered and Citi Global were the ones to make pre-placement offers. IT Baron Infosys Ltd also hired candidates for their client servicing roles with postings in Europe and the US while some other well known names such as HUL, Kraft, Pepsi, Airtel, Nokia, ITC, Johnson & Johnson, L'Oreal and Vodafone also took place in the process.
A B-School member, Merben Jayakaran said that despite the bleak economic conditions there were strong demands for the students due to their rich work experience. P.D. Jose, career development services chairman of IIM-B, said that 180 students chose Consulting and finance sectors. The Swiss Investment Bank UBS, the Blackstone Group (London) and consulting giant Arthur D Little (Dubai) recruited from our institute. Duferco group recruited for the coveted metal trading profile at Lugano in Switzerland while Capital One hired two students for their Dallas office in the US. Deutsche Bank and American Express made six offers each while DBS, HSBC, Avendus Capital, Goldman Sachs, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Yes Bank and Axis Bank offered the students with varied work roles in the banking and finance sector.
