It's mandatory to appear for Symbiosis National Aptitude Test (SNAP), the common written test for admission to all Post-Graduate Institutes of Symbiosis International University. Symbiosis was established in 1971, and subsequently conferred Deemed University status in 2002. As of today, the University has multiple campuses in Pune besides one each in Bengaluru and Nashik. There are 14 Constituent Institutes for Post-Graduate studies offering a whole gamut of programmes and streams. Annually over one hundred thousand students and professionals appear for the multiple degrees offered by Symbiosis in streams such as Health Science, Media, Communication & Design, Computer Studies, Management Engineering and Humanities. The University has seen a wide range of companies back their educational programmes with annual visits at the end of term placements.

SNAP will be held on 19th December 2010 in 29 cities across India. To enroll, aspiring students must register online at www.snaptest.org and pay the Test Fee by 26th November 2010. After appearing for SNAP, students have to apply to the Symbiosis institute/s of their choice and follow the individual admission process of each institute. However, the student's SNAP score remains valid for all institutes under Symbiosis International University.
SNAP test consists of evaluation in 3 broad categories: General Knowledge, English and Quantitative Analysis. The latter 2 sections are on the lines of the UPSC exams for the Indian Civil Service. SNAP is only an elimination test and it is crucial that students prepare for the Personal Interview and Group Discussions of the relevant institute simultaneously. In fact, certain institutes also have further short listing criteria like psychometric tests, group tasks & interviews.
