HT Horizons organised two more sessions last week to guide B-school hopefuls. At the workshop in Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Dr Sunil Rai, CEO of Mumbai Business School, shared some useful dos and don’ts. “You have to be careful of not offending the evaluators by getting into an argument. If you don’t know an answer, you should politely say so. It won’t be held against you,” he said.

He advised students to avoid speaking unnecessarily as it could land them in trouble. “Avoid one-word answers, but this doesn’t mean that you can talk incessantly,” added Rai.

On Thursday afternoon, an interactive session-cum-workshop took place at SGTB Khalsa College, north campus, with Satwinder Singh Saimbi, giving useful tips and tricks to the students.

On the second day, apart from Rai, the speakers were Sidin Vadukut, an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM)-Ahmedabad and a journalist with Livemint.com; and Yash Saxena, a second-year student from Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, Delhi.

Saxena, the youngest of all speakers, advised students to keep their cool during the GD. “Just express your point in a calm and composed manner. You are not there to work out a solution in half an hour. They can give you a topic – ‘Should India increase the tax rate?’ Do you think there is a definitive solution to this issue which a few students can hammer out in 30 minutes,” he asked.
