All eyes are now set on CAT 2014. The first test will be held on November 16.

Almost 50,000 candidates are scheduled to appear for the exam in two slots – morning slot (9:30 am to 12:20 pm) and afternoon slot (2 pm to 5:50 pm). A total of 1.97 lakh candidates have registered for the exam.

Candidates must remember to carry important things such as admit cards and photo ID cards. CAT 2014 exam centre has also declared the normalisation details. View scaling and equating process details.

With just two days to go for CAT 2014, we decided to catch up with two academic experts. Here’s what Alok Bansal and Parasharan Chari had to say to the students:

Many blogs are telling students to attempt less number of questions and focus more on accuracy. This is incorrect.  Attempt questions according to your level of preparation.

Based on the questions in the CAT 2014 official mock test, it seems that grammar-based questions are going to make a strong comeback this year.

There’ll be 100 questions and 170 minutes. Candidates should try to attempt about 22 to 23 questions from each section with 90% to 95% accuracy.

Also, read the instructions carefully at the test centre. Take out the first few minutes during the test and read the instructions properly.

Make sure, you carry a photo identity card that also contains your signature. We have confirmed it with IIM Indore.  Remember, voter’s ID card doesn’t contain all the required details. Download the candidate identification affidavit from the CAT 2014 website and get it signed from a notary.

Don’t shift too much between sections. Remember, there’s a sectional cut-off for each section.

Two days to go!  Enjoy the build-up. Go through your best mock tests, you’ll find the right strategy there.

Go through the CAT demo and enjoy the discrepancies there. Enjoy the fact that the CAT authorities have said there will be four choices in Reading Comprehension questions and in the demo, there is an RC with three questions and another with five questions in it!

Enjoy the fact that they have said there will be four options to each question and in the demo there are some questions with five options in it!

Enjoy the fact that the "previous" button got lost in corruption! Someone pickpocketed it.

Enjoy the palette and the Rangoli therein.

Get a feel of the paper and get all geared up.

Go through all the concepts well and consolidate your preparation.

Enjoy. Consolidate. Eat. Sleep. Consolidate. Relax. Don’t Drink. Consolidate. Eat. Sleep. Consolidate. Enjoy!!

Avoid loose talks!
