XLRI School of Business and Human Resources has launched a two-year residential Global MBA programme. This is XLRI’s first global MBA programme which it will offer jointly with the Weatherhead School of Management of Case Western University, Cleveland (USA) and the School of Economics and Management of Tongji University, Shanghai (China).

A single batch of the programme will comprise 60 students – with 20 students each from India, China and USA. Each B-school will select students from its country based on its own selection criteria.  Each school will be responsible for teaching 1/3rd of the program. Thus, the faculty will consist of the best available scholars at each of the three schools, stated the institute.

This unique global MBA programme will be conducted in four parts. The details are:

  • August - December 2013 at School of Economics & Management, Tongji University (Shanghai)
  • January - April 2014 at XLRI in Jamshedpur
  • August - December 2014 at Weatherhead School of Management, Case Western Reserve University (Cleveland, USA)
  • Final (i.e. 4th) semester back at XLRI in Jamshedpur (January - April 2015)
  • Three projects in leading companies (one in each country) to develop an appreciation of corporate functioning there.

The first three terms will be common to all students during which a total of 18 courses, divided into six themes, will be covered.

Application package:

1)Two reference letters from individuals who either taught or supervised you in your job recently.
2) Two essays (each not exceeding 250 words) on:
a) Has The World Shrunk Into A Global Village?
b) Why I Am Interested In a Global MBA
3) Supporting documents of academic credentials
4) Demand Draft of Rs 500/- in favour of "XLRI Jamshedpur" payable at Jamshedpur.

 

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be graduate in any discipline
  • Acceptable scores in XAT 2013 or GMAT (should have been taken between January 2011 and February 2013). XAT cut-offs: 60 percentile in EL, 60 percentile in DM, 70 percentile in QA and overall 70 percentile; GMAT cut-offs : 620.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with 3 or more years of relevant work experience
  • Passion for living, learning and working in an international environment

Fees

Tuition + AC Accomodation (single occupancy in each country): Rs 12.5 lakhs per academic year (excluding service tax @ 12.36%). Student are expected to meet their own travel, meals and other personal expenses.

To cater to the domestic as well as foreign students of global MBA programme, XLRI is making an investment of over Rs 60 crore to add three-star accommodation facilities to its campus.

Indian students who complete the program successfully will receive XLRI's Postgraduate Diploma in Business Management (Global). All successful students, regardless of nationality, will receive an additional certificate awarded jointly by XLRI, Case Western Reserve and Tongji universities. The 2013 batch has already commenced in August.
