More IIM seats coming your way

The New Year could be lucky for many management aspirants as most of the IIMs have decided to increase the intake of students. At present, there are 13 Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) in the country, and the newer ones are planning to increase the intake of students in 2012, and some of them have decided to double the number of seats they had last year.
There will be a drastic increase in intake of students at IIM-Tiruchirappalli, IIM Udaipur, and IIM Raipur. The batch size at IIM-Raipur will increase from 70 to 120, and it will happen for the first time in three years and the rest will also increase it to 120. In the past academic year, the intake of students at IIM Udaipur was 57.
Amid six older IIMs, only IIM Kozhikode will increase the intake of students. IIM Rohtak is planning for a minor change in intake from 124 to 130. IIM Calcutta runs one of the biggest batches and planning to increase the intake to 460. The other bigger and older IIMs like IIM Bangalore, IIM Lucknow, and IIM Shillong will maintain their headcount and IIM Ranchi is yet to take the final call.
