The most awaited exam of the year for management aspirants will start from today i.e. 20th February, 2012. Common Management Aptitude Test (CMAT) will be conducted by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). It is the debut year of CMAT and the testing period will be nine day long. It will be conducted in 61 cities from 20th February to 28th February, 2012.

Over 70,000 candidates have registered for this computer-based test and most of the students have registered from Pune, Mumbai, and Jaipur. The test scores will be used to admit students in post-graduate management programmes at degree and diploma levels across the country for the academic year 2012-13.

The duration of the test will be 3 hours and it will be held in two shifts. The first shift will begin at 9:30 am and the second one will begin from 2:30 pm. The result for the same will be declared on 11th March, 2012. On the basis of marks attained in the exam, students can seek admission in AICTE approved institutions and university departments.

AICTE chairman SS Mantha said that this is the first year of the CMAT. The purpose of introducing this is to relieve students from unnecessary pressure. This exam is not different from CAT and MAT. The test paper will consist of four sections and there is a provision for incorrect answers. For every four incorrect answers, marks for one correct answer will be deducted.
