Pay 10% less for PGP at IIM-L
PGP aspirants joining Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow (IIM-L) this year will pay Rs 1.2 lakh less than the previous batch. That’s because IIM-L has slashed its fee to Rs 10.8 lakh from the current Rs 12 lakh for the academic term 2013-2015.
According to IIM-L director Devi Singh, “IIM-Lucknow board has decided to reduce the fee for the postgraduate programme in management – PGP and PGP Agri Business Management – by 10 per cent.”
With IIM Bangalore’s recent fee hike, students there will pay Rs 17 lakh for PGP, while IIM Ahmedabad is offering the same programme for Rs 16.6 lakh. About two years ago, IIM Kozhikode had reduced its fees by Rs 30,000.
IIM-Lucknow has not undergone any fee revision since 2011. This trend reversal with the fee cut by 10 per cent has come as a cheerful surprise for all. "In the last nine years, the institute's impetus has been on efficient financial management and broad-basing our revenue sources. We have been successful in achieving this," Singh said.
According to JJ Irani, chairman, IIM-L board of governors, said, "In today's environment, when education is becoming costlier, IIM Lucknow would like to take a lead. This decision will help many needy students to undertake education at institutions like ours."
