IIM-A placements for PGP Agribusiness saw the particpation of more than 25 companies from various agribusiness and allied domains – ranging from MNCs to small and medium enterprises and notable start-ups.

Going against the tide of adverse market conditions, IIM-Ahmedabad announced the successful completion of placement process for PGP in agribusiness management.

More than 25 companies from various agribusiness and allied domains – ranging from MNCs to small and medium enterprises as well as notable start-up firms – participated in the process.

Syngenta, Frontal Rain, GSFC, and Yes Bank were the top recruiters this year, hiring three students each. Two students opted out of the placement process to pursue entrepreneurial venture in warehousing and a career in the social sector.

This year saw a surge in first time recruiters along with the regular recruiters. IFFCO, i3 Consulting, Frontal Rain, Escorts, Nancy Barry’s Enterprise Solutions for Poverty and GlaxoSmithKline were among the new recruiters. The placements also witnessed regular firms like Syngenta, Rabo Bank, Godrej Agrovet, StarAgri and Yes Bank looking to hire the management graduates. For the first time, Bayer CropScience Limited offered its Commercial Excellence Leadership Program in India by recruiting from IIM-A.

A variety of roles were offered in diverse domains including seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, corporate banking, food & agribusiness research and advisory, logistics and warehousing management, platform development, plantations, commodity trading, agricultural machinery, rural banking, and consulting.

“The PGP-ABM program continued to attract challenging and rewarding roles in a sector that has a strong requirement for managerial excellence. This year we maintained our international ranking as the finest programme in agribusiness and food management and as a team were delighted to provide excellent opportunities for our students to build career in this sector,” said Sanjit Singh, the recruitment secretary, PGP-ABM program, in an institute statement.

For further details about the placement process including compensation, one has to wait for the audited IPRS (Indian Placement Reporting Standards) report for ‘Final Placements 2013’, which will be released six months from the date of graduation.
