Netaji Subhash Institute of Management Sciences (NIMS), Pitampura, Delhi is a highly innovative and modern business school. It has been ranked as the 38th best private B - School in India. It got an opportunity to become the host for the National Business Olympiad 2010, the first phase of Confluence, which is the annual business summit organized by IIM Ahmedabad in association with Smartsims-MikesBikes across 22 cities in India. Confluence is the flagship event of IIM - A which has earned the industry's respect over these 50 successful years! It is Asia's standpoint and scrutiny of industry and academia. Confluence 2010 will set in motion IIM - A's Golden Jubilee Celebrations, the biggest ever meet in IIM - A. NIMS served as the host for the preliminary selections for Delhi, NCR and was one of the biggest city centers in terms of number of registrations.

National Business Olympiad (NBO - 2010) is a business simulation competition conducted specially for management students with an intention to test their strategic bent of mind and conceptual skills in Finance, Human Resource, Marketing, Operations and R&D. This event is being conducted in 5 major cities and the grand finale is being conducted at IIM - Ahemedabad on 26th - 28th Nov., 2010 during their 50th year celebration flagship summit CONFLUENCE - 2010.

This Strategic Management Simulation combines practical hands-on decision making with real world modelling. It is an innovative, team-based approach, which accelerates the key functional nature of business within a competitive marketplace.

Smartsims using their platform used the software Mike Bikes in the city centers across 30 cities. In the Delhi and NCR centre ,Netaji Subhash Institute of Management Sciences, Pitampura as many as 35 teams from different business schools of NCR participated in the two-day event on 18th and 19th Nov. 2010. Some of the notable among the registered participanting colleges were FMS, IIFT, Jaypee Business School, FMS - Rural Management Institute (Jaipur), EMPI, IMS - Noida, Galgotia Business School, IITM, Technia, etc. Another feather in the crown was that the host team of NIMS became the winners.The team of Ankur Joshi, Pawan Kumari and Anshul Goel showed their managerial skills and acumen to emerge as winners. The first runners up and the second runners up were the teams from FMS, Dhaula Kuan, Delhi and IMS - Noida respectively.

The event was inaugurated by Mr. Pranav Sanghvi, Country Head, Smartsims and valedictory was presided over by Mr. Pramod Joshi, CEO, Winning Mantra. Day I began with an inaugural ceremony. Mr. Pranav Sanghvi, Country Head, SamrtSims introduced the audience to the product - MikeBikes, which is an Online Business Simulation by which the participants had to prove the highest shareholder value to become the winner. He appreciated NIMS for their organizational support in spreading awareness about Smartsims simulation products. He emphasized the role of simulation in business management programs and cited examples of IIMs and foreign universities such as New York University. Competition began on Day II with six rounds in total. Each round was concluded in 40 minutes. Eminent personality Mr Pramod Joshi, CEO Winning Mantra delivered Valedictory Address and applauded the competitive spirit of participants.

These speakers highlighted the importance of using simulations as a part of pedagogy in B - Schools. While they appreciated the introduction of simulation games in the pedagogy, the need for real-life experience cannot be undermined.
