Shiksha Campus Rep answers all queries about JBIMS
Recently, Shiksha.com held a counselling session on WhatsApp for Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (JBIMS), Mumbai. Campus representative Saurabh Mishra answered various queries related to JBIMS during the event.
The chat included discussion on a variety of topics such as college life, specialisations offered, placements, group discussion and interview tips, and so on.
One of the top ten business colleges in India, JBIMS offers full-time Masters of Business Administration (MBA) and Masters in Management Studies (MMS).
Take a look at the edited version of the WhatsApp chat to solve all your queries about JBIMS.
Query: Hi, I am Harshal. I have 93% in SSC, 89% in HSC and completed my B.Tech(Civil) with 5.5 CPI. So my queries are:
1) Will I get through JBIMS in OPEN Category with low academic profile in graduation?
2) If I do get in, please suggest which stream should I to choose after two years working experience in civil field?
JBIMS Campus Rep: Your graduation percentage must be at least 50 to be eligible for admissions to MBA course in Maharashtra through CAP rounds. It wouldn't have any other implications on admissions as such. And specialisations are a personal choice.
Query: I have a low CAT percentile of 45 and CMAT percentile of 50. I have more than one year of experience in FMCG sector. Can I be selected? I am a BTech biotech student.
JBIMS Campus Rep: You'll need better percentiles to join JBIMS. Also apply with your other scores for cap rounds. Best of luck.
Query: What is the expected MH CET cut off for GD PI this time?
JBIMS Campus Rep: Last year MH CET wasn't conducted. It was based mostly on CMAT. Cut-offs in 2012, as far as I remember, was 168 for Open category out of 240 (200 CET + 40 GD/PI). Please check the Maharastra DTE site for exact cut-offs.
Query: Can you please briefly speak about your experience of GD PI and how you converted JBIMS?
JBIMS Campus Rep: No GD PI was held last year.
Query: Are you going to admit students on the basis of CET scores without GD PI?
JBIMS Campus Rep: Yes.
Query: Are there placements for part time courses?
JBIMS Campus Rep: Part time courses are actually for executives and I am not quite sure about the placement process they follow. Most of the executives in part time are interested in advancing in their current careers. Check the JBIMS site if it mentions something about it. You will have to ask me this question later.
Query: Does JBIMS offer residential course?
JBIMS Campus Rep: No, JBIMS doesn't offer a residential programme.
Query: Do you offer project management?
JBIMS Campus Rep: Specialisations offered in JBIMS are finance, marketing, personnel, operations and systems.
Query: Whatโs the CMAT cut off for JBIMS?
JBIMS Campus Rep: Can't say buddy. CMAT scores will only be considered for All India seats which are just 15% of the total 120 seats. Moreover people can apply for these seats on the basis of one or more of the following tests: CAT/XAT/CMAT/GMAT/MAT/ATMA as well as CET. So it's impossible to talk about the cut-offs. Best of luck.
Query: Can you please describe your last one year at JBIMS.
JBIMS Campus Rep: Informative, engaging and hectic.
