XLRI Jamshedpur has wrapped up the summer placement process for its first year batch of Postgraduate Diploma in Human Resources Management (2013-15), all in 3.5 days. Here are some details:

Number of offers and participating companies: As many as 105 companies participated in the summer placement process, offers 336 internships to 303 students.

Carlyle Group (PE firm), World Bank, Goldman Sachs, Standard Chartered Bank, BNP Paribas, Citibank, American Express, DBS, HSBC Bank, Rabobank, Nomura, Altisource, Federal Bank, Riverbridge Investment Bank, Uniquest Infra Ventures etc, L’oreal and Novartis recruited for its corporate finance roles.

While Carlyle Group continued to recruit summer interns exclusively from XLRI, a European Hedge-Fund, a Singapore based venture capital firm and World Bank recruited summer interns for the first time from XLRI.  Goldman Sachs was the largest finance recruiter followed by Standard Chartered Bank. L’oreal and Novartis recruited for its corporate finance roles.

One-third of the batch (184 Business Management Students) received offers from the Finance domain.

Marketing and Human Resources

FMCG: Unilever, Procter and Gamble, ITC, Reckitt Benckiser, Kraft Cadbury, Asian Paints, GSK-CH, Coca Cola, L’oreal, Colgate Palmolive, Dabur, Kellogg’s, Nestle, Marico, Perfetti, Mars, Hindustan Coca Cola Beverages, Akzonobel, Vodafone,  Airtel, Castrol. Healthcare: Novartis, Roche, Eli Lilly, Medtronic, Becton Dickinson, Boston Scientific, Dr. Reddy’s, GSK Pharma, Aurobindo Pharma and Apollo Hospitals.

Roles were offered in Sales and marketing & Human Resource functions. About 40% of the Business Management Students landed up offers in the FMCG sector.

“While it continued to remain as one of the top notch destinations for talent in Human Resources and Marketing, the number of offers made in Finance saw a steep rise with 33% of the Business Management students getting offers in this domain,” informed a release from the institute.

This is an affirmation of the high academic standards that we pursue that even during an economic slowdown, our students are sought after by firms across industry sectors. The placement process at our campus concluded in a record time of just 3.5 days, with 100% of the batch of 303 students getting meaningful offers for internship from major conglomerates.”

Placements at XLRI are conducted by the student-run Placement Committee along with help from CRISP (For CV Verification & academic preparation), Controls (For managing the scheduling of students & companies), Services (For in house requirements like Infra, Food etc. for companies& students) and Logs (For handling logistics for companies).
