MBBS Exam will have no Negative Marking
A single entrance test for admission to all MBBS courses across India has been proposed and an expert committee has been constituted to check the modalities of the test. The committee has recommended that there should be no negative marking for in the exam.
The committee has been set up by the Medical Council of India (MCI) and it has recommended that there should be objective-type questions. A percentile score will determine the merit of all the candidates in the proposed National eligibility-cum-entrance test (NEET) for admission to MBBS courses from the next year.
Above mentioned recommendations have already been submitted to the MCI and board of governors and it will soon be decided after consulting with the officials of the health ministry. If it will come in action; then it will be the first time that the medical entrance test will not have such practices.
The negative marking issue came from a concern that some of the applicants score less which results in MBBS seats lying vacant. MCI is also working in this direction by lowering the cut-offs for MBBS admissions.
