Vernacular Language demanded by Gujarat, Karnataka and West Bengal for NEET
Gujarat, Karnataka and West Bengal have demanded vernacular language for National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET). It has been conducted for admission in MBBS courses. Goa has denied the proposal for the syllabi finalized by Medical Council of India (MCI).
Union Health Ministry, Medical Council of India (MCI) and Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) have held a meeting with various states under the chairmanship of CBSE chairman Vineet Joshi. In this meeting, various states have demanded for the vernacular language for all-India medical entrance exam while Goa had objections to the syllabi finalized for NEET by MCI.
As per a source, final decision on vernacular language for NEET along with the decision on whether to allow negative marking in the all-India exam will be taken by MCI in next few days. CBSE chairman Vineet Joshi said that, we are looking forward for NEET 2012 and all-India medical entrance exam will carry out bi-lingually in English and Hindi like other national-level examinations.
