According to the latest immigration data from the United Kingdom, the UK is gradually growing in popularity as a destination for Indian students as well as professionals. On Thursday, the UK Immigration Statistics were released and it reflects that more than 37,500 Indian students received tier 4 or study visas in 2019. This is a jump of 93 per cent from 2018. This also shows the highest number of visas offered to Indian students over a period of last eight years. It is in line with the strong upward trend in the number of student visa since 2016. For student visas, Indians are presently the fastest-growing nationality.
The statistics displayed a similar rising trend for Indian working professionals looking to work in the UK. More than 57,000 tier 2 or skilled work visas were offered to Indian nationals. This is over half of all UK work visas offered to the rest of the world. Apart from this, it is still a popular destination for Indian holidaymakers. A new point-based immigration system was also unveiled lately by the UK.
