The AICTE extended the last date for admission to the first-year Engineering courses for the Undergraduate and Diploma lateral entry to November 30, 2020, due to the ongoing pandemic situation.

According to the official notice released by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) on its website, the admissions to the AICTE approved institutions need to be completed today, i.e. on December 1. The official academic calendar also states that the new academic session for the first year Engineering students will begin from today, i.e. December 1, 2020. According to the revised schedule released today is the deadline for the admissions to the diploma lateral entry courses. According to the official notification released, due to the current condition in the country and the requests from the different state governments and the ongoing admission process at IIT and NITs, the AICTE extended the last date for admission to the first-year Engineering courses for the Undergraduate and Diploma lateral entry to November 30, 2020. The last date for the commencement of classes of the first year is December 1, 2020.

Students must note that the official notification with the revised schedule is available on the official website of AICTE, i.e. aicte-india.org. Due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus, the classes are being conducted in the online, offline mode, and blended mode following the guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) issued by the Centre. Meanwhile, the institutes who already commenced the classes are asked by AICTE to either postpone or conduct special classes for students who will be appearing for the final year examinations of the undergraduate and diploma programmes.

The notification further states that the academic calendar may further change based on the existing COVID-19 condition and the guidelines issued by the Health Ministry, Home Ministry, and HRD Ministry.
