Andhra Pradesh government to distribute laptops to students under different scheme

According to the reports, the distribution of laptops will be conducted under a separate scheme to help them study during the online classes.

COVID-19 Impact: Amid the ongoing pandemic situation forcing students to study from home following the COVI-19 protocol in order to prevent the virus spread, Andhra Pradesh decided to distribute free laptops to the university and college students. According to the reports, the distribution of laptops will be conducted under a separate scheme to help them study during the online classes. Universities and colleges are closed due to the rising cases of the novel coronavirus and restrictions imposed in order to contain the virus spread. Many institutions also asked the students to vacate hostels and return home. Considering the many students do not have the resources to study online from home, the government decided to distribute laptops for their continuous learning process.

The state Education Minister Audimulapu Suresh said that the government is reviewing this policy under a separate scheme other than the newly launched Jagannath Accommodation Blessing Scheme. Talking about the initiative, the Minister said that the decision has been taken to help the state universities to conduct online classes and examinations during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Stating that the laptops are being distributed for students’ uninterrupted online learning and exams,  he added, “The state government's decision to give laptops to students fully equipped to conduct online classes will be taken on the conditions under which exams are conducted in universities and the impact of COVID-19.” He further said that the laptop distribution will not be reviewed under the newly-launched ‘Jagannath Accommodation Blessing Scheme’.
