Assam CM Himanta Biswa asks health department to start online booking for OPDs

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has asked the health department to take necessary measures for starting online booking for out patient departments (OPDs).
The Assam government is all geared up to upgrade the health care infrastructure of the state. After recently inaugurating Lakhimpur Medical College & Hospital and announcing 14 more medical colleges by 2025, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has asked the health department to make the efforts for commencing the online booking for out patient departments (OPDs) of the medical colleges and hospitals in the state.
Himanta Biswa Sarma has tweeted, "Discussed various issues related to Assam Secondary Healthcare Systems Reforms Project at a meeting held with senior govt officials today. Also reviewed the status of State Cancer Institute, GMCH and Proposed Employee Health Assurance Scheme."
His other tweet reads, "Discussed steps taken at State Cancer Institute, GMCH under National Programme for Prevention & Control of Cancer, Diabetes, Cardiovascular diseases & Stroke and approved the utilization plan. Asked to introduce portal based submission of medical bills for all govt employees."
In yet another tweet, he says, "There will be a single admissibility board headed by CEO, Atal Amrit Abhiyaan Society. The CEO office will take steps for verification & other procedures for release of admissible amount. Asked to develop a portal & prepare appropriate guideline to ensure seamless experience."
He directed the health department that steps must be taken for establishing 50 bedded hospitals under PM Ayushmaan Bharat Abhiyaan at five locations across the state, a mother and child care hospital at Tamulpur, a 100-bed hospital at Sualkuchi, and high-quality GNM Nursing School as part of district hospital infrastructure under the same project.
An official press release also stated that to make the health system in the state hassle-free, the green corridor of emergency cases must be opened with the space for parking and online booking for OPD at medical colleges must be started.
