The Assam 12th Board exam will be conducted twice a year from the 2027 session, where the second round of the ASSEB class 12 exam will be held within three months of the declaration of results of the first session ASSEB Assam class 12 board examination.Â
Assam 12th Board Exam: Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB) will conduct the HSC examination twice a year from the academic session 2027. The board has announced the news regarding the Assam 12th board exam twice a year through an official notification. The decision to conduct Assam 12th board exam twice a year came following CBSE's decision to conduct the board examination twice a year. The authorities have notified that the second round of the ASSEB class 12 exam will be held within three months of the declaration of results of the first session ASSEB Assam class 12 board examination.Â
The Assam Board (AHSEC) has decided to hold repeat and Assam 12th compartment exams within three months after the final exam results are announced in line with National Education Policy 2020. The repeat exam is for students who have passed the examination but want to improve their marks, while a compartment exam is for those who have failed in one or more subjects and want to clear them.
Prior to this recent change, Assam Class 12 students had the option to take repeat or compartment exams. However, they were not allowed to appear for these exams in the same year as their final board exams, and they had to wait till the next academic year, as reported by TOI.Â
Reportedly, students must first appear for the Assam Class 12 board exam held in February-March to become eligible for the second attempt. Meanwhile, ASSEB may introduce changes to the Class 10 board exams from session 2027, allowing students a chance to improve their scores by appearing in a second round within the same year.

However, in order to be eligible for the second round of the Assam HSC exam, a student must meet two conditions: they must score at least 170 marks in the main board examination and should not have failed in more than three subjects.

The Assam State School Education Board (Division-I) (ASSEB) announced the Assam HSLC routine 2025 on November 19, 2025.
