Assam HSLC 2026: Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB) has issued important guidelines for students who failed HSLC exam 2026. The board has made it mandatory for such students to take re-admission to Class 10 as regular students if they wish to continue their studies and appear for next HSLC board exam 2026. All schools have to complete re-admission by August 14, 2026.

As per notification, only students who complete Assam HSLC re-admission process and attend regular classes will be eligible to appear in subsequent class 10th examination. ASSEB has advised students to get re-admission in same school from where they appeared for Assam HSLC board exam 2026. If parent school is unable to provide admission, students may take admission in another school within same exam centre.

Assam HSLC Registration Number to Remain Unchanged

ASSEB has clarified that students will continue with their existing registration number. They will use same registration number while appearing for next HSLC board exam. Students who wish to change their elective subject may do so before Class 10 half-yearly examination. No, request for a subject change will be accepted after that.

Assam HSLC Practical Assessment and Internal Marks

The school where student takes re-admission will conduct practical assessments and internal evaluations during academic session. The practical and internal assessment marks will be submitted to ASSEB.

Half-Yearly Examination Made Mandatory

ASSEB has made it compulsory for all re-admitted students to appear in Class 10 half-yearly examination. Students who fail to appear will not be allowed to sit for next HSLC paper. Heads of institutions have been directed to closely check attendance and academic performance of re-admitted students. They can important pointers below

  • Re-admission to Class 10 is compulsory for students who failed HSLC 2026

  • Students should preferably rejoin their parent school or another school within same exam centre

  • Existing registration number will remain valid

  • Elective subject can be changed only before half-yearly exam

  • Practical and internal assessment marks will be submitted by HSLC re-admission school

  • Appearing in half-yearly exam is mandatory
