The government of Assam has announced a new financial support scheme for secondary-school students appearing in Class 10 board exams in 2026. Under this newly launched “Prerona” scheme, every eligible Class 10 student will receive a monthly stipend of ₹300 until end of their board exams.
Himanta Biswa Sarma govt has started this scheme to ensure students get basic necessities such as nutrition, stationery and study-materials removing financial stress and helping them prepare for exams with peace of mind.
Important Details
Stipend amount: ₹300 per month
Who’s eligible: All Class-10 students (HSLC / matric), whether under the state board or CBSE-affiliated “Adarsha Vidyalayas,” and irrespective of their family’s income status.
Estimated beneficiaries: About 4.4 lakh (≈ 440,000) students across Assam.
When stipend begins: First payments already credited as of November 2025; scheme runs until board exams (scheduled February 2026) conclude.
