The Central Board of Secondary Education made an announcement that CBSE passing marks 2027 Class 10, 12 will remain the same as previous years. Students need to secure 33 per cent marks in combined total of internal assessment and board exam. There is no need to score 33 percent separately in each part. A recent circular on passing marks created confusion among students, teachers and school. The circular mentioned that to be declared successful in a subject, student must secure 33 % marks separately in external and internal assessments. This is to be calculated on the combined total of internal assessment and external examination marks.
When pointed out, CBSE clarified that there is no change to the passing criteria and that the assessment pattern (80:20) will be the same as the last academic year for Class 10.
Meanwhile, Class 12 students are required to score a minimum of 33 per cent marks separately in internal and external assessments to clear a subject. The board also notified its affiliated schools that it will Sample Question Papers (SQPs) and Marking Schemes (MS) for CBSE Class 10 and 12. This will serve as a guide for ensuring uniformity and proper coverage of the curriculum.
