WBCHSE is all set to begin the West Bengal Class 12th board exams 2023 from March 14. The exams will be held till March 27. This year, the number of girls appearing for the exams will be higher by 1.27 lakh.
Last year, 7.45 lakh students had appeared in WB HS exams. 54.79 per cent of the total examinees were girls, Council President Chiranjib Bhattacharya told a press meet.
Bhattacharya informed that 206 exam centres have been declared as sensitive ones where there will be a three-layer screening system to prevent mobile phones or any electronic gadget from being sneaked inside the exam hall to avert any malpractices. For the first time, the Council has decided to use Radio Frequency Detector (RFD) to track the presence of any mobile or other electronic gadgets in these sensitive centres. The majority of the sensitive venues are located in Malda district.
There will be CCTV surveillance and metal detectors in every exam centre.
Students or other staff present at the exam centre will not be allowed to leave their seats before the passage of one hour of the exams from 10:00 am.
These measures were taken after the reports of leakage of WB Madhyamik question papers surfaced on social media. The Council, however, did not refer to that issue.
